Measuring Guide
At VAMP, we’re all about finding that perfect fit for your unique style! Vintage clothing sizes can sometimes be a bit tricky, but we’ve got you covered. Use this guide to help you navigate different sizes and ensure your vintage menswear fits like a dream.
How to Measure Yourself
Before diving into the sizing charts, it’s important to get accurate measurements. Here’s a quick guide on how to measure yourself properly:
- Chest: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape under your arms and around your shoulder blades.
- Waist: Measure around your natural waistline, usually just above your belly button.
- Hips: Measure around the widest part of your hips, making sure the tape is snug but not tight.
- Inseam: Measure from the crotch down to the bottom of your ankle along the inside of your leg.
- Sleeve Length: Measure from the shoulder down to your wrist, with your arm slightly bent.
Make sure to keep the measuring tape snug but not too tight for the best accuracy.
Vintage vs. Modern Sizing
Vintage clothing often runs smaller than modern sizes, so don’t be surprised if you need to size up from your usual. Always compare your body measurements to the size chart provided and take note of the product’s description for any specific sizing notes.
Sizing Tips
- Check the Details: Always refer to the product descriptions and sizing details provided by the seller for each piece. They may include information on the fit (e.g., oversized, slim fit) and any signs of wear that could affect sizing.
- Tailoring: Vintage clothes can be easily altered to fit your body perfectly. Don’t hesitate to bring that awesome piece to a tailor if it needs slight adjustments.
- Layering Matters: For items like jackets or coats, consider how many layers you’ll be wearing underneath. You may want to size up for outerwear to accommodate layering.
